CONA of Pastor Apollo Quiboloy under WPP Revoked by Senatorial Aspirant
PASTOR APOLLO QUIBOLOY – The Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) Founder revoked his Certificate of Nomination and Acceptance (CONA) and will run as an independent candidate for senator in the 2025 Elections.
Countless people were surprised when Pastor Quiboloy filed his candidacy for senator in the 2025 Midterm Elections. His senatorial bid came amid his detention for multiple cases filed against him. He was in hiding for several months until Pastor Quiboloy’s arrest in September.
Over a month ago, the Philippine National Police (PNP) conducted intensified search operations inside the KOJC compound in Davao City. It earned different reactions from the public as well as the different known personalities in the political arena.
The PNP’s search operations reportedly included drilling operations inside the KOJC compound. The authorities initially believed that there might be a bunker where the Pastor may be hiding. Amid the intensified search ops of the PNP authorities, Vice President Sara Duterte apologized to the KOJC members for seeking their support for Marcos in the 2022 Elections.
The intensified search ops to find Quiboloy happened under the Marcos administration. The Pastor had a condition to the President for his surrender but the Palace did not hear his call.
According to the Philippine National Police, Pastor Apollo Quiboloy was arrested amid an ultimatum. His lawyer, Attorney Israelito Torreon, tagged his “surrender” as “an ultimate sacrifice”. According to his legal counsel, the Pastor could no longer take the situation inside the KOJC compound to continue.
Pastor Apollo Quiboloy is currently detained in the PNP Custodial Facility. He filed his senatorial candidacy through hsi lawyer and under the Workers’ and Peasants’ Party or WPP. However, WPP’s Sonny Matula denied signing the Certificate of Nomination and Acceptance or CONA of the Pastor.
According to the lawyer of Quiboloy, the Pastor will be the senator for the poor, ordinary Filipinos, and workers. Recently, Matula who is also a senatorial aspirant filed a petition to the Commission on Elections seeking for the cancellation of the CONA of the Pastor.
Recently, based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Pastor Apollo Quiboloy revoked his Certificate of Nomination and Acceptance (CONA) under the Workers’ and Peasants’ Party. He will run as an independent candidate for senator in the 2025 Midterm Elections.
It was Quiboloy’s lawyer, Atty. Mark Tolentino, who filed the letter of the Pastor addressed to Comelec chairman George Garcia. Based on the report, the Pastor claimed that he does not want to be involved in the “intra-party dispute” so he decided to revoke his CONA and run as an independent candidate.
Currently, Pastor Quiboloy remains in Camp Crame while his co-accused were sent to Pasig City Jail. It earned different reactions from the people.
