Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Speaks on Remarks of Pres. Bongbong Marcos over Ties
SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President reacted to Pres. Bongbong Marcos saying he was probably deceived that she did not consider him as a friend.
The falling out of the ties between Vice Pres. Duterte and Pres. Marcos has saddened countless BBM-Sara fans and supporters. During the 2022 Elections, their tandem campaigned on the platform of unity but, visibly, there is a division in their case now.
Vice Pres. Duterte previously said that she will “never again” team up with the Marcoses in the future elections. The Vice President also claimed that she was allegedly on a “mistaken belief of unity and continuity”.
Duterte claimed that she and Marcos are not friends as they only talked when they merged to become running mates in the 2022 Elections. According to the Vice President, her friend is really Senator Imee Marcos, the sister of the president.
The VP further said that she and Marcos Jr. only talked about the campaign and work. When asked about his reaction to the statement of his former running mate, the President admitted that he is “a little dismayed” upon knowing that she does not consider him a friend.
Pres. Bongbong Marcos also claimed that he was maybe deceived on Vice Pres. Duterte downplaying their ties as he really thought they are friends. The souring relationship between the highest and the second-highest officials in the Philippine government has caused a faction among the BBM-Sara supporters.
Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte spoke anew on her ties with Pres. Bongbong Marcos. She was asked about the “deception” remarks of the Chief Executive over their ties. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the Vice President claimed that she initially decided to not respond to the statement of Marcos Jr. anymore.
“For the love of God, presidente ka na. Importante pa ba yung nararamdaman mo? ‘Di ba kapag presidente ka, hindi na importante ‘yung pagod mo, ‘yung luha mo… When you are president, importante diyan ‘yung mararamdaman ng taong bayan,” Duterte said.
Based on the video report, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte stressed that Pres. Bongbong Marcos really had the time to think about the “deception”. According to her, the Chief Executive must be using his time to think about the important things that concern the Filipino people.
“Ang dami mong oras. Hindi ba dapat iniisip mo ang mga taong gutom, ‘yung presyo ng gasolina, ‘yung darating na Christmas kung sino ‘yung maka-afford ng spaghetti,” Duterte said.
Recently, when Pres. Duterte flew to Lao for the 44th and 45th Summit, Vice Pres. Duterte was not assigned as the “caretaker” of the Philippines while the Chief Executive is away.
