SARA DUTERTE – President Bongbong Marcos said that it would be “unfair” for the Vice President to be the PH caretaker when he’s away.

Recently, many Filipinos were surprised when the Presidential Communications Office or the PCO announced that Vice Pres. Duterte is not ther caretaker of the Philippines. It is amid the President attending the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit in Lao.

Pres. Marcos flew to Lao for the 44th and 45th ASEAN Summit together with his wife, First Lady Liza Marcos. At the ASEAN Summit, Marcos spoke about the moves of China on the South China Sea. Prior to his departure, he assigned an executive committee that will be the in-charge of the country while he is away.

The caretaker of the Philippines while Pres. Bongbong Marcos is away for the ASEAN Summit is not Vice Pres. Sara Duterte but Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, Agrarian Reform Secretary Conrado Estrella III, and Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla.

According to Presidential Communications Office or PCO Acting Secretary Cesar Chavez, Bersamen heads the executive committee tasked to be the in-charge of the country while the Chief Executive is away. Undeniably, the PCO announcement stirred the confusion of countless Filipinos.

Pres. Bongbong Marcos recently explained his decision to not assign Vice Pres. Sara Duterte to be the caretaker of the Philippines while he is in the ASEAN Summit. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the Chief Executive said that it will be “unfair” on the Vice President to be tasked to look after the country while he is away.

“She’s not part of the day-to-day running of what we are doing so it would be unfair to ask her to now, to impose that duty on her since that’s not part of her work now,” Marcos said.

Based on the report, Pres. Bongbong Marcos stressed that Vice Pres. Sara Duterte is “not part of the administration anymore” although she is still in the government. Recently, Marcos also gave his reaction on Duterte saying they’re noy friends.
