Rhian Ramos Shares Her Thoughts on Sam Verzosa’s Run for Mayor
RHIAN RAMOS – The Kapuso actress shared her reaction to her boyfriend Sam Verzosa’s candidacy for mayor.
Sam Verzosa is a businessman and politician. He co-founded the multi-level marketing company Frontrow International and is also involved in Modena Motorsports, which distributes Maserati cars in the Philippines.
Verzosa’s business journey began when he ventured into direct selling and multi-level marketing, eventually leading to the creation of Frontrow International with his business partner RS Francisco in 2009. Frontrow is known for its corporate social responsibility efforts, such as the E-Skwela program, which provides internet and printing facilities for schools in remote areas.
In politics, Verzosa serves as the representative of the Tutok To Win Party-List in the House of Representatives, a position he has held since June 30, 2022. He became the vice chairman of various House committees, including those on Poverty Alleviation, Social Services, Welfare of Children, and Disaster Resilience. He has authored bills like the Poor Job Applicants Discount Act and the E-Skwela Act.
In October 2024, Verzosa announced his candidacy for mayor of Manila in the 2025 elections as an independent candidate. He has recently filed his Certificate of Candidacy (CoC).
In an interview on “Ogie Diaz Inspires,” Rhian Ramos said she didn’t initially support Sam’s move into politics because she didn’t want to date a politician. She explained that in the Philippines, like in other poorer countries, politics is often associated with corruption, which gave her a negative view of it.
However, Rhian’s opinion began to change when she saw how happy Sam was when he found a new purpose in helping others. She noticed his joy when he came home from a day where he had made a difference or helped someone. Looking back, Rhian said she now regrets not supporting Sam’s political goals from the beginning.
