Former Bamban Mayor Alice Guo To Face Accusations First

ALICE GUO – The dismissed mayor of Bamban, Tarlac confirmed that she will not run in the upcoming 2025 Midterm Elections.

Today is the last day of the filing of the Certificate of Candidacy (CoC) for those who aspire to run in the May 2025 Elections. Previously, the lawyer of former Mayor Guo said that she will seek a comeback in Bamban, Tarlac.

Attorney Stephen David, the legal counsel of Guo, stressed that only the court can stop the candidacy of the former Mayor as she is not convicted on any case. He also expressed his belief that the Commission on Elections (Comelec) will be the one to decide.

The Comelec in Bamban also said that they will accept the CoC of Alice Guo if she decides to run in the 2025 Midterm Elections. The poll body previously stressed that their power is “ministerial” and they cannot refuse a certificate of candidacy right away.

Alice Guo’s Lawyer expressed his belief that the people of Bamban must be given a chance to show their support to the former Mayor. Undeniably, online, the announcement of the legal counsel of the former mayor was met by different reactions.

Guo was dismissed from office amid accusations linking her to illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming operations. She is also questioned about her identity as her fingerprints matched with the fingerprints of Guo Hua Ping, a Chinese national. Currently, there is a pending misrepresentation complaint against the former Mayor.

Based on a recent report on GMA News, Alice Guo is not running in the 2025 Midterm Elections. The former Bamban, Tarlac Mayor reportedly made the confirmation during a Senate hearing.

According to Guo, she will face all the accusations against her first. She also expressed her belief that running for a post while there are pending charges against her will be unfair to the people of Bamban.

“Your honor, haharapin ko po muna ‘yung mga accusations po sa akin, linisin ko po muna ‘yung sarili ko po. And para maging fair din po para sa mga constituents ko po na minamahal ko po,” she said.

Prior to the former Mayor announcing her decision, the Comelec previously said that they will release the result of the misrepresentation complaint against Guo before October 30.
