Rendon Labador Comments on Diwata’s Candidacy
RENDON LABADOR – The social media personality commented on the political candidacy of Deo Balbuena, popularly known as “Diwata.”
Diwata recently filed his Certificate of Nomination and Acceptance (CONA) as one of the nominees for the Vendors Partylist, which will compete in the 2025 midterm elections. The filing took place on October 2 at the Manila Hotel Tent City.
Diwata explained that the Vendors Partylist is committed to representing Filipino vendors, whose voices are often ignored, especially by the government. The party’s advocacy focuses on supporting vendors, particularly by helping them secure capital, which is crucial for their businesses. He expressed hope that if the party is elected, they would be able to address this concern.
In response, Rendon commented on the news, saying that Diwata might be under the impression that his role would involve cooking and selling pares (a local beef stew dish). He doubts whether Diwata fully understands the responsibilities of his political involvement, stating that he is worried for him.
“Baka akala ni Diwata mag luluto at mag titinda lang siya ng Pares, paki tanong nga kung alam niya yang pinapasok niya. Nag aalala ako para sa kanya,” he said.
Rendon’s comment received mixed reactions from netizens. Some teased him about his past friendly relationship with Diwata, noting that he had even visited Diwata’s paresan (eatery). Others humorously suggested that Rendon should run for office, representing gym enthusiasts, while one commenter joked about the price difference between pares and his “motivational rice.”
It’s worth noting that Rendon and Diwata had once collaborated in a vlog, where Rendon visited Diwata’s eatery, highlighting their previous friendly connection. Despite this, Rendon’s recent remarks about Diwata’s candidacy have sparked mixed reactions online.
Aside from Diwata, another social media personality trying her luck in politics is Rosmar Tan, who recently filed her Certificate of Candidacy to run for councilor in the first district of Manila. According to Rosmar, she plans to advocate for providing maintenance medication to senior citizens in her district.
