Panelo Speaks on Calls for Rodrigo Roa Duterte, Sara Duterte Tandem in 2028
RODRIGO ROA DUTERTE – Former presidential legal counsel Salvador Panelo revealed that PRRD is called to run as Sara’s vice president in the 2028 Elections.
One of the most popular surnames in the Philippine political arena is the Duterte. Most of their family members are holding positions in the government for decades now. Former Pres. Duterte has three (3) children from his first wife, Elizabeth Zimmerman-Duterte.
The eldest among the Duterte siblings, Paolo Duterte, is currently the representative of the First District of Davao City. Former presidential daughter Sara Duterte is vice president now and has just resigned from being the secretary of the Department of Education (DepEd). According to VP Sara Duterte, there are both personal and work reasons why she left the Marcos cabinet.
The youngest son of former Pres. Duterte, Sebastian Duterte or more popularly known as Baste, currently serves as the mayor of Davao City. Previously, the Vice President claimed that former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte and her two brothers will run for senator in 2025.
According to the Vice President, she will return to serving her hometown which is Davao City after her stint as VP is over. Her statement was made amid the calls for her to run for presidential and topping the list of potential presidential bets in 2028.
Recently, former presidential legal counsel Salvador Panelo revealed that there are calls for a Duterte-Duterte in 2028. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the former legal counsel of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte is one of those who are urging him to run as the vice president of Inday Sara in the 2028 Elections.
Panelo admitted to advising the Duterte Patriarch of running for mayor in Davao City first to secure the help of the Davaoeños and to run for the vice presidency in 2028. Based on the report, he made the statement during a press conference in Quezon City.
“Pag Duterte-Duterte, sigurado ‘yan, babalik sa inyo lahat ng bumaliktad sa inyo kasi napakalakas ninyo,” Panelo expressed.
On the reaction of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte to his advice, Atty. Salvador Panelo revealed that the Duterte patriarch just told him to continue the Duterte-Duterte advocacy and they will see. He stressed that the Chief Executive is open for everything and cannot be cornered.
“Hindi mo siya mako-corner. He will never tell you,” the former presidential legal counsel of PRRD said.
