JONATHAN – A 23-year-old from Cebu City, passed away after affirming his faith with the words “Jesus is real.”

Raised in a devout Christian family, he actively participated in church activities and youth groups, teaching children about the Bible. Despite his young age, Jonathan displayed a deep spiritual maturity, praying for the sick from a young age and becoming a youth leader during high school.

In college, Jonathan excelled academically, graduating Magna Cum Laude in Marketing Management. However, his graduation was marred by illness. In May, he began experiencing fever and gastrointestinal issues, which worsened despite medical attention. By June 21, Jonathan was hospitalized after collapsing following breakfast.

During his hospitalization, Jonathan continued to share his faith with nurses and doctors, encouraging them with words like, “Doctor, you have a greater purpose.” His father, Joel Sia, recounted how Jonathan’s faith remained steadfast even as his health declined.

On the day of his passing in July, Jonathan briefly signaled as if seeing something extraordinary before being resuscitated. Unable to speak clearly, he was handed a pen and paper by his father, who was astonished to see Jonathan write “Jesus is real” before he peacefully passed away. Doctors determined an infection as the cause of death, though specifics were unclear.

Reflecting on Jonathan’s life, his father expressed faith in God’s plan, believing that even in tragedy, God’s purpose and presence were evident. He shared how they had prayed for miracles, hoping for a different outcome, yet ultimately trusting in God’s wisdom.

Jonathan’s story, marked by his unwavering faith and profound impact on those around him, serves as a testament to the power of belief and the enduring influence of spiritual conviction in the face of adversity. His legacy lives on through the memories of those he touched and the example he set through his life of faith and service.
