The Afritada is a Philippine dish that mainly features either chicken, beef, or pork meat braised in tomato sauce with potatoes, carrots, and red and green bell peppers. The first part of the Pork Afritada recipe is the list of ingredients that you need to prepare. Here are the ingredients that you will need in cooking some delicious pork dish good for up to six (6) people:
- 3 lbs. pork belly cut into large cubes
- 3 pieces potatoes cut into large cubes
- 4.5 pieces hotdogs sliced
- 1.5 piece Knorr Pork Cube
- 4.5 pieces carrots cut into large cubes
- 4.5 pieces bay leaves
- 24 ounces tomato sauce
- 1.5 piece green bell pepper
- 1.5 piece red bell pepper
- 1.5 piece onion chopped
- 4.5 tablespoons cooking oil
- 7.5 cloves garlic chopped
- salt and ground black pepper to taste
The next part of the Pork Afritada recipe is the cooking process. It may take around one (1) hour but the wait is surely worth the delicious taste of the pork dish. Here are the steps on how to cook this sumptuous Pinoy favorite dish:
Step 1
Pour in cooking oil in a pot and heat it. When the oil is hot, fry the pork belly until the color of its outer part turns light or medium brown.
Step 2
Add the hotdogs in the pot and fry it for one (1) minute. Afterwards, remove the pork and the hotdogs and set them side for a while.
Step 3
Saute the garlic and onion using the remaining oil in the cooking pot. Afterwards, when the onion has softened, return the pork and saute it for one (1) minute.
Step 4
Pour in the tomato sauce into the pot and then the water. Stir and continue cooking until the mixture boils. Afterwards, add the Knorr Pork Cube and the bay leaves. Cover the pot and allow it to simmer for an hour or until the pork is tender.
Step 5
Add the hotdogs, carrots, and potatoes back into the pot. Continue cooking for five (5) minutes.
Step 6
Add the bell peppers. Season your delicious Pork Afritada with salt and ground black pepper until you achieve your desired taste. Continue cooking for three (3) more minutes.
