Dagul Is Confined Due to Serious Health Issues
DAGUL – The former comedian, known for his role in the TV show “Goin’ Bulilit,” is currently hospitalized at the Philippine Heart Center due to serious health issues.
Romeo Queddeng Pastrana, better known by his stage name Dagul, is an actor, comedian, model, and politician, recognized for his distinctive presence in the entertainment industry due to his condition of dwarfism. His journey into the spotlight began when he was discovered by singer-host Randy Santiago in 1998, who humorously nicknamed him “Dagul”—a Kapampangan term meaning “tall” or “big,” in ironic contrast to his short stature.
He started with minor roles in films such as “Isprikitik, Walastik Kung Pumitik” (1999) and “Juan & Ted: Wanted” (2000). His career took a significant turn when he partnered with Long Mejia on the GMA sitcom “Kool Ka Lang” (2001) and later followed Mejia to ABS-CBN. Although initially appearing in guest roles, Dagul later became a regular on various shows, including the children’s sketch program “Goin’ Bulilit,” where he was notably the only adult in the cast throughout its entire run until 2019.
In his personal life, Dagul ventured into politics and was elected as a kagawad of Barangay San Jose in Rodriguez, Rizal, in 2010, where he was known for his campaign slogan “The Little Man With a Big Heart.” Dagul is married and a father of four children, with his youngest daughter inheriting his condition.
Meanwhile, Dagul is currently hospitalized at the Philippine Heart Center due to serious health issues. As reported by Ogie Diaz on the “Showbiz Updates” program, Dagul has been in the hospital for two weeks, undergoing multiple tests. His medical condition includes complications such as blood clots in the lungs and pneumonia, and there are concerns about his heart potentially enlarging.
Despite receiving some assistance through guarantee letters provided by senators and acquaintances, the funds are not sufficient to cover all his medical expenses. As a result, additional financial support is needed to help with his ongoing treatment and recovery. Those interested in helping can contribute financially by depositing any amount into his BDO account under the name Romy Aspan Pastrana – 007348003301.
