President Rodrigo Duterte has ordered an investigation over anomalies including corruption surrounding the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth).
Earlier, Atty. Thorrsson Montes Keith, PhilHealth anti-fraud legal officer filed resignation from his post following alleged corruption and mismanagement within the agency.

This was after a rift between the president and chief executive officer Ricardo Morales versus the officials of the state insurance firm.
In a meeting held on Wednesday, Morales and his officials were engaged in a heated argument over the procurement of an information technology system.
According to Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, two other PhilHealth executives have already resigned.
He also said in an interview with Inquirer.net that Duterte has “authorized” Undersecretary Jose Melchor Quitain to lead the conduct of the investigation.
Quitain is the head of the Office of the Special Assistant to the President which is under the Office of the President.
“We enjoined all parties, including Keith, to fully cooperate with Undersecretary Quitain so we can get to the truth,” the presidential spox said.
“In this time of the (Covid-19) pandemic, the President will not tolerate corruption in an agency trusted by all to provide medical assistance to Filipinos,” he added.
The resignation of PhilHealth anti-fraud legal officer will take effect this coming August 31 and he cited “widespread corruption in PhilHealth” as one of the reasons why he is vacating his post.
