Oscar-winning composer Ennio Morricone died at the age of 91.
Ennio Morricone, an Oscar-winning composer who became one of the world’s most prolific and best-known film composers, died at the age of 91.
Citing a statement from Morricone’s lawyer, media reports said that Morricone on Monday died in hospital in Rome wherein he was being treated for his fractured femur following a fall.
Giorgio Assuma, Morricone’s lawyer and a family friend, said in a statement that Morricone died in the early hours of Monday “with the comfort of his faith”, adding that he remained “fully lucid and with great dignity” right until his last breath.
Following Morricone’s death, Italian Health Minister Roberto Speranza wrote in a tweet saying “Adieu maestro” (Farewell master) and thanked him for the emotions he gave to them.
