Eduardo Año belied news reports that the entire Region 7 was placed under ECQ
Eduardo Año, the Secretary of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), belied news reports that the entire Region 7 (Central Visayas) had been placed under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).
This, as DILG Secretary Eduardo Año said in an interview on Dobol B sa News TV on Friday that only Cebu City was reverted to enhanced community quarantine from general community quarantine and not the entire Region 7 (Central Visayas).
Aside from DILG Secretary Eduardo Año, DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire also belied the reports on the quarantine status of Central Visayas.

Vergeire said in a statement that was sent to media on Friday that the DOH didn’t report this nor have they ever tackled the levels of community quarantine in different areas of the Philippines, adding that it was the function of Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque to do such.
She also said that the Province of Cebu — except for Cebu City which was under ECQ and Talisay City in Cebu which was under modified ECQ — was still under GCQ, adding that only the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-MEID) has the authority to change and announce their policies.
Region 7 was composed of the provinces of Siquijor, Cebu, Negros Oriental, and Bohol.
