Maria Ligaya? Lea slams person changing her name in Wiki
Award-winning singer Lea Salonga took to social media to express her frustration over the person changing her first name to “Maria Ligaya” in Wikipedia.
In both posts, she was furious on the person who’s changing her name on the online free encyclopedia or Wikipedia.
On Facebook, she reiterated that her name is “MARIA LEA CARMEN IMUTAN SALONGA” as stated on her birth certificate and driver’s license and not “MARIA LIGAYA.”
Her frustration which was first reported by entertainment site, FashionPulis, then generated reactions from the netizens.
Lea Salonga or Maria Lea Carmen Imutan Salonga in real life came to prominence brought by her roles in musical theater and broadway.
The 49-year-old singer is behind the singing voices of Disney Princesses Jasmine from Aladdin and Fa Mulan in Mulan.
She started her singing career at the age of 18 with her portrayal of the lead role (Kim) in Miss Saigon. The musical paved her way to be recognized around the world, naming her as the first Asian woman to win a Tony Award.
In 2004, she married Robert Charles Chien, a Chinese-Japanese managing director of an entertainment software company based in Los Angeles, California.
She and her husband met while the singer is performing in Flower Drum Song and they were blessed to have one child.
Aside from musical plays, she also ventured acting on television and movies. She also starred in numerous shows, with her latest stint as one of the coaches/judges of The Voice of the Philippines.
Meanwhile, Lea Salonga continues to perform but virtually as she collaborates with other artists to coronavirus disease or COVID-19 relief.
