A South Korean national was killed after resisting a robbery
ROBBERY INCIDENT – A South Korean national was shot dead during a robbery in Pasay City.
Pasay City Police said that the foreigner was killed along Roxas Boulevard Service Road on Friday, around 4 a.m. In a CCTV footage, the 45-year-old Korean national identified as Lee Seung Hoon was seen walking at Arnaiz Avenue when the suspects came from behind and announced a holdup.
The suspects tried to rob the foreigner, but the latter resisted prompting one of the suspects to shoot him. The victim suffered a gunshot wound in the back of the body.
After the incident, the two suspects fled the scene on board a tricycle. They were able to steal the bag of the victim which contained money whose value has yet to be determined.
The suspects were immediately arrested. A certain Jerome Quiñones Caratao was arrested in Pasay City on Friday after being identified by a witness while the other suspect named Prince Eleazar Tupas was arrested in the early morning of Saturday at San Pedro, Laguna.
The two suspects are still trying to figure out who really shot the Korean, while the victim’s bag has not yet been recovered.
The Korean national showed signs of life which is why he was brought to the San Juan de Dios Hospital. However, he was later declared dead on arrival. Meanwhile, the suspects are facing charges of robbery and homicide.
