The Philippines reported 359 new coronavirus cases, according to DOH.
The Department of Health on Tuesday announced that the Philippines reported 359 newly-confirmed cases of coronavirus disease.
Among the 359 additional cases, 176 were classified as “fresh” cases, while the remaining 183 were classified as “late” cases, bringing the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) to 18,997 as of June 2, 2020.
For “fresh” cases, 33 COVID-19 patients were from Metro Manila, 89 were from Central Visayas, and the remaining 54 came from different areas in the Philippines. On the other hand, for the “late” cases, 39 COVID-19 patients were from Metro Manila, eight were from Central Visayas, 25 were repatriates, and the remaining 111 were from different areas in the Philippines.
Aside from the number of confirmed cases, the Department of Health also reported 84 additional recoveries and six new fatalities due to COVID-19. This brought the total number of recoveries to 4,063 and total fatalities to 966.
According to the Department of Health, the fresh cases recorded on Tuesday were based on its test results released to patient within the last three days, while the late cases recorded were based on the test results released to patients four days ago or more.
Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire mentioned that 38 out of the 42 operational laboratories as of June 1 had submitted their complete line lists for validation as well as daily accomplishment reports, while four remaining operational laboratories were expected to submit their complete line lists for validation as well as daily accomplishment reports by June 4.
