Jeepney Drivers Ask Alms From Bypassers For Having No Income
TONDO, MANILA – The video footage of some jeepney drivers asking for alms in Tondo, Manila is now circulating on social media.
Over the past few months, a lot of Filipino people have been struggling with their financial status due to the health crisis. The coronavirus disease cause most business establishments in the Philippines to shut down.
However, the Duterte administration eased the enhanced community quarantine and changed it to general community quarantine but there are still some people who were not able to return with their livelihoods.
A Twitter user named Henry Atuelan DZMM has shared the heartbreaking video of several jeepney drivers asking for alms along the streets of Tondo, Manila. The video is now spreading like a wildfire online.
In the video, it can be seen that the drivers are asking for some amount of money from bypassers due to loss of income. Some drivers are struggling with their financial necessities due to a lesser number of passengers.
One of the drivers is holding a placard with words written: “Konting Tulong para sa mga driver, Sangingdaan Pajo Divisoria, Salamat Po! God Bless.”
The video has a caption of:
“Ilang mga tsuper ng jeep sa Tondo, Maynila namamalimos na.”
