The President revealed in an interview during the oath-taking of new Malacañang Press Corps (MPC) officers that the shortlist for the next Press Secretary is now down to 3 people. He added that he would name the next press secretary “early next week”.

However, the President refused to name the 3 people on the shortlist for the next Press Secretary.

The President was also asked about his considerations in choosing the next Press Secretary. According to him, his next press secretary should be a friend of the media and someone who knows messaging well in order to get important information across.

Obviously, you need somebody who is very experienced in the… probably a journalist or is a media practitioner. Yun naman ang kailangan,” the President said. “Yung marunong mag-messaging para yung mga gusto naming palabasin, talagang lumalabas. That’s what’s important — that we get the information, the messaging across.

President Marcos said this following the resignation of Atty. Trixie Cruz-Angeles from the said position early this week due to “health reasons”.

Vlogger Madam Ely claimed in her social media post that there were “ahas sa loob ng palasyo” who sabotaged the former Press Secretary, prompting her to resign from her position.

Reports surfaced that Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) director Gilbert Remulla, Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (MPIC) head of Government Relations Mike Toledo, Transportation Undersecretary Cesar Chavez, and director Paul Soriano were being considered as the next Press Secretary.

Based on a report, Gilbert Remulla, Mike Toledo, Cesar Chavez, and Paul Soriano have media backgrounds.
