Vice Ganda Hilariously Schools Contestant on Malacañang
VICE GANDA – The comedian expressed surprise and amusement during the “Laro Laro Pick” segment of It’s Showtime when a young contestant failed to recognize Malacañang Palace, one of the Philippines’ most historic and well-known landmarks. The contestant was shown a photo of the presidential palace but appeared clueless about what it was.
Vice Ganda tried to guide her by asking where the President lives. Even after giving additional hints about official events, press conferences, and meetings held there, the contestant incorrectly guessed locations like a municipal hall and even “Malabon.” Co-host Jhong Hilario also offered a hint, but the contestant still failed to identify the palace.
Visibly disappointed, Vice Ganda reminded the contestant that Malacañang has been central to major events in Philippine history, including the Martial Law era and the EDSA People Power Revolution, and even appears on the country’s currency. Eventually, the contestant recognized it as Malacañang, prompting Vice Ganda to tease her about focusing too much on social media trends like makeup tutorials instead of learning basic history. “Hayun, Malacañang, Rein. Okay? Malacañang ‘yan ha? Huwag puro blush on saka highlighter sa TikTok ha?” he said.

The clip quickly circulated online, drawing reactions from netizens who expressed disbelief and concern over the lack of basic historical knowledge. Many were surprised that someone so young could be unaware of such a fundamental symbol of the nation. Others made lighthearted jokes, suggesting the contestant may have skipped school or belongs to a generation less familiar with historical landmarks.

Vice Ganda also shared the clip on his official Facebook page, adding a playful caption to reinforce the correct answer. The incident sparked a broader discussion online about the importance of teaching Filipino history to younger generations in ways that connect with their everyday lives, beyond social media and trends.
