Topacio Calls Out Arnold Clavio Over Past Controversy Involving a Minor

Topacio Accuses Clavio of Alleged Misconduct Involving a Minor

Attorney Ferdie Topacio publicly criticized GMA news anchor Arnold Clavio over a past controversy involving a minor.

On March 12, via his X (formerly Twitter) account, Topacio accused Clavio of committing a serious offense years ago, claiming Clavio had inappropriate relations with a then-minor named Sara Balabagan, which reportedly led to her pregnancy. Topacio suggested that GMA should produce a special report about the matter and even called for people to rally outside Clavio’s studio to demand answers.

Topacio’s remarks came after Clavio spoke against the widespread disrespect and abusive behavior toward women by some government officials. Clavio said that people who harass or exploit women should have no place in government or society, describing such actions as predatory and unacceptable.

“Hindi na dapat mabigyan ng pagkakataon ang mga katulad nila sa gobyerno na walang respeto sa kababaihan. At bakit sila naglipana? Dahil natatawa pa tayo sa kanilang pagyayabang at papasin na mga kabastusan. Hindi na ba alam ang pagkakaiba ng tao sa mababangis na hayop? Walang lugar sa gobyerno at sa bansa ang mga predator! Dapat ay maging extinct na sila,” said Clavio.

Previously, Topacio defended Quezon City 4th District Representative Bong Suntay after his controversial comments about actress Anne Curtis during a congressional hearing on Sara Duterte’s impeachment. Suntay admitted noticing Curtis and imagining certain scenarios but emphasized that these thoughts were purely imaginary. On his radio show, Topacio described Suntay’s remarks as minor and not criminal, noting that private thoughts or fantasies do not constitute a legal offense. He also criticized Anne Curtis’s sister for publicly reacting, suggesting that celebrities who share revealing photos online attract attention, and urged the public to focus on more serious political matters.

As of now, Arnold Clavio has not issued any response to Topacio’s claims.
