Poca Shares How His Pastor Parents Accepted Him as Gay

Poca Reveals He Was Never Judged by His Pastor Parents

POCA – A proud member of the LGBTQ community, shared that he has never felt judged or criticized by his parents, even though both of them are pastors. Instead of condemning him when he came out as gay, his parents responded with understanding and support, often telling him that they would pray for him. For Poca, this consistent response showed love rather than rejection.

He opened up about this during the vodcast Your Honor, hosted by Chariz Solomon and Buboy Villar, when he was asked to react to the controversial remarks of Alvin Aragon about the LGBTQ community. Instead of directly criticizing him, Poca chose to focus on his own experience growing up in a religious household.

According to him, he has never heard hurtful or discriminatory words from his parents regarding his gender. He described their relationship as open and close, sharing that he can freely talk to them about his struggles. He even recalled asking his mother to pray for him during stressful times, and she responded by sending a voice message filled with prayers and encouragement.

“Both of my parents are pastors. But I have never, ever heard of them discriminating against me because of my gender. All they say is, ‘We will pray for you, anak.’ Wala ako naririnig na kahit ano. Kagabi nga, ewan ko, sobrang close namin ng family ko, parang sinabi ko, ‘Ma, pag-pray mo naman ako, medyo nai-stress nitong mga nakaraang araw. We are so open to each other,” he shared.

Poca emphasized that faith and identity do not have to clash. He believes that it is possible for religious individuals and members of the LGBTQ community to respect each other and live peacefully. For him, being gay does not make a person bad, just as being straight does not automatically make someone good.

Despite ongoing debates and criticisms, Poca remains firm in his belief that understanding and coexistence are possible. He continues to create relatable and honest content about everyday life, gaining popularity for his unfiltered skits and real-life humor.
