Gigi De Lana Opens Up About Heart Condition
GIGI DE LANA – The singer opened up about her health condition after a frightening incident at a live performance in Samal City, Davao del Norte, where she fainted on stage on March 7, 2026.
Videos of her collapse quickly went viral, showing her feeling dizzy and weak as she attempted to descend the stage, prompting staff to carry her to medical attention backstage. Her talent management later attributed the fainting to extreme fatigue.
A few days later, Gigi reassured her fans during a Facebook Live broadcast that she was recovering well and expressed gratitude for their concern and prayers. She revealed that her doctors diagnosed her with pericarditis, an inflammation of the thin sac surrounding the heart, which can cause sudden chest pain, fatigue, and breathing difficulties. She emphasized that while the condition can be uncomfortable and scary, she is closely monitored by her medical team and following their guidance carefully.
Gigi explained that her recovery requires patience, noting that some days are better than others, and she is learning to listen to her body and rest as needed. Despite her condition, she plans to continue performing and sharing music, which gives her strength and joy. She asked fans not to worry and thanked them for their ongoing support, promising to take care of herself and fully recover.
“Healing from this condition takes patience. Some days are better than others, but recovery is a process, and I’m taking it. I’m taking it one step at a time. For those who have, you know, been worried, please know that I am okay and I am under proper medical care. So please don’t worry, don’t worry about me,” she said.
This was not Gigi’s first fainting episode during a performance; in May 2023, she collapsed mid-show in Ilocos Norte while performing with a shoulder brace.
