Jay Sonza Under Fire After Chelsea Fernandez Defends Anne Curtis
CHELSEA FERNANDEZ – The beauty queen expressed disappointment toward Jay Sonza because of his remarks about Anne Curtis.
Fernandez is among the public figures who criticized the controversial comment made by Bong Suntay about the television host. However, she became even more upset after Sonza defended the lawmaker and criticized Curtis for reacting strongly to the issue.
On March 8, Chelsea Fernandez called out Jay Sonza on Facebook, saying his remarks showed an inappropriate mindset after he questioned Anne Curtis’ anger over the lawmaker’s comment. Sonza argued that Curtis’ career often highlighted her beauty and attracted men, so it was unreasonable for her to be offended when someone admitted feeling attracted to her. He also shared photos of the actress wearing revealing outfits to support his claim.
Fernandez strongly disagreed with this view. She said she hoped Sonza was only posting such comments to gain attention online because it was difficult to believe that someone would seriously think that way. She stressed that his statements reflected a mindset she found disgusting and unacceptable.
Fernandez, who is currently in Vietnam carrying out her duties as Miss Cosmo 2025 runner-up, is one of many personalities who have shown support for Curtis during Women’s Month. Meanwhile, Curtis released a statement after returning from a shortened vacation with her family. She said she is considering legal action against Suntay and made it clear that she does not accept what she believes was an insufficient apology from him.
Despite the controversy, Curtis also expressed understanding toward Suntay’s wife and children. As a wife and mother, she said she understands the embarrassment families can feel when a loved one becomes involved in a public controversy. She emphasized that the lawmaker’s family should not be blamed and asked the public to leave them out of the issue because they did nothing wrong.
