Sheryl Cruz’s Daughter Chooses Showbiz Despite Graduating as Summa Cum Laude

Sheryl Cruz’s Daughter Chooses a Life in Showbiz

ASHLEY NICOLE BUSTOS – The daughter of actress Sheryl Cruz, has made her mother proud after graduating summa cum laude from San Francisco State University in California, where she earned a degree in Psychology with a minor in Race and Resistance Studies.

Despite her strong academic achievements and the many career paths available to her, Ashley chose to enter the entertainment industry, following the artistic roots of her family. Sheryl shared that her daughter is already 24 years old and capable of making her own decisions, so she prefers to support her rather than control her choices.

She expressed happiness knowing that people in the industry are guiding Ashley, and she believes it is important for her daughter to experience the journey of starting out in showbiz on her own while still having the support of her family. Sheryl explained that Ashley can always come to her for advice, but she does not want to pressure her or decide things for her.

She also believes that the passion for performing runs naturally in Ashley because she comes from the well-known Cruz and Sonora families, both of which have deep ties to the entertainment industry. With relatives such as Tirso Cruz III, Donna Cruz, Geneva Cruz, Sunshine Cruz, Rodjun Cruz, Rayver Cruz, and the late veteran actress Susan Roces in their family history, Sheryl feels it is only natural for her daughter to be drawn to the same path.

Aside from acting and singing, Ashley also has other talents. Sheryl proudly shared that her daughter is a very skilled screenplay writer and could work on projects both in the Philippines and abroad. She believes Ashley can use her educational background to create meaningful stories that connect with people from different cultures.

Sheryl also said that she and her former husband, Norman Bustos, remain on good terms and continue to work together to support their only child. Both of them are happy with their own lives now and focus on being present for their daughter whenever she needs them.
