Sarah Discaya Seeks Bail Amid Malversation and Corruption Allegations
SARAH DISCAYA – The controversial contractor, together with her lawyers, has filed a petition for bail in the Lapu-Lapu City Regional Trial Court over her involvement in a malversation case.
The petition was also filed by Ma. Roma Discaya Rimando of St. Timothy Construction, the niece of Sarah’s husband, Curlee Discaya. The case involves alleged irregularities in flood control projects, with accusations of corruption and misuse of about P96.5 million in Davao Occidental.
Sarah’s lawyer, Atty. Cornelio Samaniego III, explained that even though malversation is usually a non-bailable offense, the accused still have the right to request bail through a legal motion. This allows defendants to present evidence and challenge the case if the proof against them is not strong.

Currently, both Sarah Discaya and Rimando are in Lapu-Lapu City Jail while the case proceeds. Atty. Samaniego also said that Rimando plans to request a joint inspection of the project site by the court to show that the flood control project in Culaman, Jose Abad Santos, is real. He added that the project was completed and even extended beyond 2.4 kilometers, and any damage was caused by a recent natural disaster, not by the contractors.

Meanwhile, Sarah Discaya is a contractor and businesswoman known for her work in the construction industry through companies like St. Timothy Construction and Alpha & Omega General Contractor & Development Corp. She gained recognition for securing several government infrastructure projects, particularly flood control initiatives. Before rising in the construction field, she worked in various jobs both overseas and in the Philippines. Sarah is also connected to political circles through her family and has previously filed for public office, including a mayoral candidacy in Pasig City.
