Robin Padilla Reacts Strongly to ICC Document Involving Close Political Allies
ROBIN PADILLA – The senator admitted feeling deeply emotional and distressed after learning that his close allies, Ronald dela Rosa and Bong Go, were identified as alleged co-perpetrators of former President Rodrigo Duterte in a document released by the International Criminal Court.
He shared that reading the report caused him significant concern, particularly over the possibility that arrest warrants could be issued against the two senators. The situation felt personal due to their long-standing working relationship and alliance in the Senate.
“Ako po’y naiyak dito. Ako po’y na-depress dito… papaano na ito? Sino pa ang kasama ko sa Senado? Kapag itong dalawang ito nabigyan pa ng warrant of arrest, edi ko na lang mag-isa. Hindi pa po depressing ‘yon?” he said.

Despite his emotional reaction, Padilla emphasized that he did not let his feelings take control. Instead, he immediately reached out to offer support, contacting Bong Go directly and sending a message to Dela Rosa to ask how he could assist them during this challenging time. He made it clear that he was ready to help in any way necessary and recognized that the situation could have wider implications for their group in the Senate.
Padilla also communicated with Senate Minority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano and other members of the minority bloc to discuss the possible impact of the development. He noted that the matter could create uncertainty within their ranks, particularly if additional legal actions are taken. He stressed the importance of remaining united and prepared for any outcome.

At the same time, Padilla appealed to the government to ensure that any legal cases involving Filipinos are handled within the country’s own judicial system. He expressed concern about citizens facing proceedings abroad and urged leaders to prioritize national interest and fairness. He also called for a less politicized approach to the matter.
