Four Years After Mahal’s Passing, Mygz Molino Opens Up About the Backlash
MYGZ MOLINO – The actor and content creator has opened up about his life four years after the death of comedienne Mahal and the intense backlash he faced following her passing. Mahal died from COVID-19 on August 31, 2021, and soon after, Mygz was accused by some people online of using her for personal gain. These claims deeply hurt him, even though they were not supported by clear evidence.
At the height of the controversy, Mygz chose to remain silent. He explained that the situation was extremely sensitive and emotionally overwhelming, and he believed speaking publicly would only make things worse. Because of the trauma, he avoided leaving his home in Tanauan, Batangas, for almost a year. During that time, people would wait outside his house—some to show concern by leaving food and gifts, and others to confront or blame him for Mahal’s death.
Mahal’s passing also affected Mygz’s family, especially his mother, who had grown very close to the late comedienne. Even years later, she avoids certain foods that remind her of Mahal, showing how deeply she was loved and missed.
In a recent interview, Mygz apologized for not responding to media requests in the past. He said his silence was intended to prevent the issue from becoming even more chaotic. He stressed that his relationship with Mahal was built on care, respect, and genuine friendship. He also pointed out that social media at the time was filled with rumors, harsh judgment, and people spreading unverified stories.
Despite the harsh criticism directed at him and his family, Mygz said he never wanted the issue to reach the courts. He believes in choosing peace and would rather endure pain than hurt others. He admitted that many of the attacks went beyond fair criticism and caused serious emotional distress.
Through it all, Mygz relied on his faith and trusted God to handle the truth. He continues to visit Mahal’s grave privately and shared that she often appears in his dreams, especially on her birthday. Together with his business manager, who also faced criticism, Mygz said that forgiveness played a key role in helping him heal and move forward.
