Kylie Padilla Jokes About Leaving the Philippines If Her Dad Robin Runs for Vice President

Kylie Padilla Reacts to Robin Padilla’s Possible VP Bid

KYLIE PADILLA – The actress reacted playfully when asked about the possibility of her father, Robin Padilla, running for Vice President in the 2028 elections. Her response came after reports linked the senator’s name as a possible running mate of Sara Duterte, who has already announced her intention to run for President in 2028.

During a media conference for the film The Lotto Winners, Kylie was asked by reporters how she felt about her father potentially seeking a higher position in government. Laughing, she repeatedly said that if her father decided to run for Vice President, she might leave the Philippines. She made it clear that she had no serious comment on the issue and kept her tone light and humorous. However, when pressed further about whether she supports her father’s political career, Kylie gave a more sincere response, saying that she trusts her father’s judgment.

The speculation began after Robin Padilla’s name surfaced as one of the possible vice-presidential candidates aligned with Sara Duterte. The senator is known to be a strong ally of the Duterte family, particularly former President Rodrigo Duterte.

In a recent interview, Robin shared that although he does not personally aspire to a higher political position, he would consider running if Rodrigo Duterte personally asked him to do so. He explained that he feels deep gratitude toward the former president, who encouraged him to run for senator and granted him an absolute pardon in 2016 for a past firearm conviction.

Robin also expressed confidence that he could handle the responsibilities of the vice presidency, describing the role as largely focused on advocacy work. Despite the public discussions, he has previously stated that he currently has no plans to run for Vice President in 2028.

As of now, Sara Duterte has not officially named her running mate. She mentioned in an earlier interview that she has already approached someone for the position, but that person has yet to make a final decision.
