Jopay Paguia Reveals She Hesitated to Return to SexBomb Due to Religion

Religion Cited as Reason Why Jopay Paguia Hesitated to Return to SexBomb

JOPAY PAGUIA – One of the original members of the SexBomb Girls revealed that her decision to leave the group twice was largely driven by her religious beliefs. She admitted that she hesitated to return because some people viewed the group’s dances as “dirty, immoral, or inappropriate,” and she worried it might conflict with her faith. She wanted to honor her spiritual calling while balancing her career.

Izzy Trazona made a similar choice, leaving the SexBomb Girls in 2009 after joining Victory Church, a decision fully supported by her husband, Alvin Aragon. Even years after their marriage in 2012, faith continues to guide their personal and professional decisions.

Jopay explained that after stepping away from the group for her engagement to fellow dancer Joshua Zamora and her involvement in church, she prayed and sought guidance from her pastor. She asked whether returning to the group would make her a “bad person.” Her pastor reminded her that dancing and singing were gifts from God and that her actions, not the group’s name, defined her character. Encouraged, she asked for a clear sign from God. She felt confirmed when she saw children happily dancing to their hit song “Spaghetti,” which she took as a signal that returning was the right choice.

With this reassurance, Jopay met with the group’s manager and choreographer, Joy Cancio, explaining why she left and why she wanted to return. Joy welcomed her back without judgment, allowing Jopay to rejoin the SexBomb Girls fully.

The group, popular in the 2000s, has reunited for concerts, including sold-out shows in December 2025 and three performances in February 2026. Izzy even joined a special song number on February 7, delighting fans. The SexBomb Girls are also scheduled to perform internationally in the UAE on March 27-28 and in California, USA, on May 16, demonstrating their continued influence in the industry.
