Young Mother Tricycle Driver in Manila Gets Help and Job from LTO
LTO – A young mother who used to drive a tricycle in Manila has been helped and given a job by the Land Transportation Office.
She became famous on social media more than a year ago after a travel vlogger, Daily Max, rode in her tricycle on the way to Dolomite Beach. At the time, the 17-year-old was driving without a license while carrying her young child strapped to her chest. Some viewers criticized her fare, reportedly reaching ₱200, but the vlogger also gave her a ₱1,000 tip, which made the video even more popular.
After the video went viral, LTO Chief and Assistant Secretary Markus Lacanilao ordered the agency to find her and offer support. Now 19 years old, she has received proper training, obtained her driver’s license, and was given a job as a utility worker at the LTO.

The LTO explained that their goal is not just to enforce traffic rules but also to help people in need while promoting road safety. By assisting the young mother, the agency demonstrates that it aims to combine law enforcement with providing opportunities. This support allows her to earn a legal income, ensures her child’s safety, and shows that government agencies can respond positively when social media highlights vulnerable individuals.
Her story inspired many online, showing that a viral video can lead to real help and new opportunities. From being a minor driving a tricycle with her child, she now has a stable job, proper training, and a chance to secure a better future for herself and her family. The LTO hopes this example will encourage both compliance with traffic rules and support for people striving to improve their lives.

Meanwhile, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) is a government agency responsible for regulating land transportation. It oversees the issuance of driver’s licenses, vehicle registration, and inspections, and enforces traffic laws to promote road safety.
