Passenger Speaks Out After Palawan Van Trip Goes Wrong

Passenger Shares “Horror Experience” During Van Trip from Puerto Princesa to El Nido

HORROR VAN RIDE – A passenger named Nini Jess shared a frightening experience on social media about a van trip from Puerto Princesa to El Nido, Palawan, on January 12.

She described the trip as a “horror experience” due to long delays, unsafe driving, and poorly managed luggage. The van, operated by Island Travel and Tours with plate number VRC 823, was scheduled to leave at 5:00 p.m. but did not depart until around 7:00 p.m., frustrating the twelve passengers on board. There was also insufficient space for luggage, so some large suitcases were tied at the front of the van.

Soon after the trip began, passengers noticed the driver was speeding and driving recklessly. One passenger even started crying while asking the driver to slow down, but the request was ignored. Everyone in the van felt scared, prompting Nini Jess to speak up and highlight the danger, which only caused the driver to slow down briefly. After more than two hours on the road, the van stopped for dinner, yet the driver still ignored warnings and reportedly made uncomfortable remarks to the passengers.

The second part of the trip became even more hazardous due to thick fog reducing visibility, while luggage blocking the windshield worsened the situation. At one point, the driver leaned his head out the window to see the road ahead while still driving at high speed. A journey that normally would take much less time ended with the van arriving in El Nido around midnight.

Nini Jess added that she had taken other vans in Palawan before but had never experienced anything so unsafe.
