Davao City Cong. Paolo Duterte Calls on Filipinos To Not Surrender despite Issues in PH
PAOLO DUTERTE – The Davao City First District Congressman issued a New Year message for the supporters of their family and the Filipino people.
The Duterte family members had gone to The Hague, Netherlands several times in 2025 following the transfer of the custody of their father, former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, to the International Criminal Court. It was last March 11 when Duterte was arrested by the police authorities who assisted the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol).
On the same day that he was arrested, Duterte was flown to Dubai en route for The Hague, Netherlands for the transfer of his custody to the foreign court. The ICC previously junked the interim release plea of former Pres. Duterte and the same verdict was made by the judges on the appeal filed by his camp.
The Duterte family claimed that they accept the ICC ruling on the interim release appeal of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte “with open hearts”. His camp claimed that they might refile the interim release appeal but they will wait for the former President’s medical report.
Countless Duterte supporters were saddened by the decision of the ICC to junk the interim release appeal of the former President. The former President waived his right to personally appear at the November 28 ICC hearing and he was represented by his lawyer, Nicholas Kaufman.
Recently, in his New Year message, Davao Cong. Paolo Duterte expressed his gratitude to every Filipino who stood, supported, and trusted the Duterte family. He also expressed his gratitude for the continued respect on their father, former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte.
“Salamat sa inyong pagtitiwala, sa inyong boses, at sa inyong tapang kahit maraming ingay, paninira, at pamumulitika. Most especially, we thank you for your continued love and respect for our father, former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte. Hanggang ngayon, ramdam pa rin namin ang suporta ninyo—dahil alam ninyo kung ano ang kanyang ipinaglaban: disiplina, malasakit sa ordinaryong tao, at tapang sa harap ng problema,” the Davao City Congressman said.
Davao Cong. Paolo Duterte stressed that former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte was not perfect but and was not popular but have principles. In his message, the Davao City First District Congressman called on the Filipinos not to surrender.
“2025 was not an easy year. Maraming pangako ang napako, maraming tanong ang hindi sinagot, at maraming Pilipino ang patuloy na naghihirap. Pero gaya ng dati, dili ta mo surrender. We move forward stronger, wiser, and more determined,” the younger Duterte wrote.
