Jojo Bragais Defends Michelle Dee Against Assault Allegations
JOJO BRAGAIS – The renowned shoe designer defended Miss Universe Philippines 2023 Michelle Dee against allegations that she, along with friends Samantha Panlilio and Rhian Ramos, allegedly assaulted a driver over a missing private photo. The incident was reported to have occurred on January 17. Bragais publicly affirmed that Dee and Panlilio were in Iloilo on that date, making the allegations impossible.
In a Facebook post on January 29, Bragais described both Dee and Panlilio as calm and composed individuals. He added that he accompanied them in Iloilo on January 17 and clarified that Dee did not have a bodyguard at the time, only a road manager. Based on his past experiences with her at events, she had never required additional security. Celebrity makeup artist Dave Quiambao also expressed support for Dee, questioning how the alleged incident could have taken place while they were together in Iloilo.
January 17 also coincided with the Miss Iloilo 2026 coronation night, where Zestah Shalom Espinosa was crowned. Dee’s lawyer confirmed her presence in Iloilo for the entire day, presenting plane tickets, photographs, and other records as evidence. She returned to Manila on January 18.

The legal teams of Dee, Ramos, and Panlilio denied the claims of illegal detention and assault made by Baro, Ramos’ driver and personal assistant. Their lawyers noted that they have not yet received the official complaint filed with the National Bureau of Investigation but will respond once it is formally served.

Bragais, who has collaborated with Miss Universe Philippines as the official shoe designer in previous editions, stated that his personal experience with Dee confirms she could not have been involved in the incident. He and other supporters emphasized that the allegations are inconsistent with the facts of Dee’s whereabouts and character on January 17.
