Balloon Vendor Left Heartbroken After Firecracker Incident
A balloon vendor was devastated after a child threw a firecracker at his merchandise, causing the balloons to burst.
Recently, Khim, a Facebook user, shared photos of the elderly vendor who was deeply troubled after his balloons burst when a child threw a firecracker at them. The post quickly went viral and elicited reactions online.
According to Khim, the incident happened while they were eating outside their home. The old vendor passed by carrying colorful balloons, hoping to make a few sales. Moments later, loud popping sounds were heard as the balloons burst one after another.
It was later learned that the vendor had approached a child, thinking the child wanted to buy. Instead, the child unexpectedly threw a firecracker at the balloons.
The balloons exploded instantly, leaving the vendor shocked and helpless. It was later explained that the child has a disability and did not fully understand that what he did was dangerous and wrong.
Still, the damage had already been done. All 55 balloons were destroyed, with an estimated value of more than P2,500.
He was only selling them for someone else. Overwhelmed by worry and fear of how he would explain the loss, the elderly man could only cry.
Seeing his distress, concerned residents immediately checked on him to make sure he was not hurt. Kindhearted people then stepped in to help. A woman named Ruth gave 1,500 pesos, and other neighbors also shared what they could so the vendor would not carry the burden alone.
The parents of the child later came forward to apologize and explain that they thought their child was simply playing outside.
