Anjo Yllana’s Son Apologizes for Father’s Remarks Against ‘Eat Bulaga’

Jaime Yllana on Anjo Yllana’s Controversial Remarks: “Naiintindihan ko naman na gano’on talaga”

JAIME YLLANA – The son of comedian Anjo Yllana publicly apologized for his father’s controversial remarks against the noontime show Eat Bulaga and some of its hosts.

During a media conference for the film My Husband Is a Mafia Boss on January 8, Jaime was asked about the issue and explained that, as his father, he understands the struggles and frustrations Anjo experiences. He expressed regret for any hurt his father’s words may have caused, acknowledging that everyone makes mistakes.

“‘Yong tatay ko kasi, at the end of the day, he’s my dad. Sa bahay, tatay ko talaga siya, so nakikita ko talaga ‘yong pinagdadaanan niya,” Jaime explained. He added, “Alam ko naman, pasensiya po sa lahat, na may nagagawa siyang mali at naiintindihan ko naman na gano’on talaga.”

Despite the controversy, Jaime emphasized the close and friendly relationship he shares with his father. He admitted that he often gives Anjo advice, reminding him that some matters should be kept private, especially as public figures in the spotlight. Jaime stressed that while they both work in entertainment, certain issues are better handled discreetly to avoid unnecessary attention or misunderstandings.

“Sinasabi ko lang sa kaniya na, ‘Alam mo minsan sa buhay, kailangan i-keep private.’ Like siyempre, artista tayo or in the spotlight, but some things need to be in private,” he said.

The incident stems from a video in which Anjo accused Senate President Tito Sotto of having an extramarital affair back in 2013. Anjo also reportedly called co-host Jose Manalo a “snake” during the same rant. When asked about Anjo’s remarks, Sotto chose to ignore the accusations, stating that he would not engage in showbiz gossip or personal attacks and urged the media to focus on more important issues.

“Huwag n’yong pansinin at nagpapapansin ‘yan. Pati ba naman showbiz at paninira papatulan natin. Itaas natin ang level ng Senate press,” the Senate President said.
