Teen in Coma After Baseball Bat Attack in Malabon

STREET FIGHT – An 18-year-old teenager is now in critical condition and comatose after reportedly being struck on the head with a baseball bat by a 24-year-old man in Barangay Muzon, Malabon City.

The incident happened while the victim was hanging out with a friend when a bright light from the suspect’s motorcycle shone on them. Feeling annoyed, the teen confronted the man about the light, which escalated the situation. In an attempt to defend himself, the victim grabbed a baseball bat.

During the commotion, several of the suspect’s friends joined in. One of them allegedly pushed the teenager off balance while he was still on the motorcycle. The suspect then took the baseball bat from the victim and struck him on the head, causing him to lose consciousness immediately. The assailant and his companions quickly fled the scene in different directions.

The injured teen was rushed to Tondo Medical Center, where he remains in the Intensive Care Unit in a comatose state. Authorities have already arrested the 24-year-old suspect, while police continue searching for his accomplices. The Malabon Police are conducting a full investigation to identify all those involved and determine their responsibilities in the attack.

A coma is a deep state of unconsciousness where a person cannot respond, speak, or move voluntarily. It is caused by serious brain injuries, strokes, infections, lack of oxygen, drug overdoses, or metabolic problems. The duration varies: some recover in hours or days, while others may remain comatose for weeks, months, or longer. Recovery depends on the cause and severity of the injury, and some may have lasting brain damage or move into a vegetative or minimally conscious state.
