Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Issues Statement after Multiple Complaints Filed against her

SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President called on the Filipinos to continue being strong despite the alleged downfall of the Philippine economy.

The impeachment complaint filed against Vice Pres. Duterte was declared unconstitutional by the Supreme Court. According to the high court, the impeachment rap did not follow the one year ban rule and a fresh impeachment complaint may only be filed after February 5, 2026.

The Supreme Court’s decision was followed by the Senate archiving the impeachment rap against Duterte with a 19-4 voting. The chamber’s decision was controversial as it came amid the call of many Filipinos on the Senate to start the impeachment trial.

Yesterday, several civil society leaders filed multiple complaints against Vice Pres. Sara Duterte and 15 officials of the Office of the Vice President (OVP) and the Department of Education (DepEd). The complaints which included plunder charges were over the alleged misuse of the P625 million confidential funds of the offices held by Duterte.

Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte issued a statement following the filing of multiple charges against her before the Office of the Ombudsman. In her statement, the Vice President called the move as “another fishing expedition” against her.

“They scramble to weaponize any accusation they can manufacture just to create a semblance of procedural legitimacy for an investigation,” the Vice President wrote.

Vice Pres. Sara Duterte encouraged the Filipinos to be critical over the alleged defamation against her. In her statement, she claimed that it is allegedly not about finding the truth but covering the supposed corruption of the government’s funds.

“Patuloy lamang tayong maging matatag sa harap ng pagbagsak ng ekonomiya at walang tigil na pagtaas ng presyo ng mga bilihin. Patuloy tayong magdasal para sa kapayapaan,” she stated.

Previously, the Vice President’s ally, Jimmy Bondoc, claimed that Vice Pres. Sara Duterte allegedly wants Pres. Bongbong Marcos to finish his term for a reason.
