Ilocos Cong. Sandro Marcos Spearheads One of Dad’s Priority Measures
SANDRO MARCOS – The presidential son and Ilocos Norte 1st District Congressman filed the Anti-Political Dynasty Bill in the House of Representatives.
Amid the flood control mess in the Philippines, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. recently cited his priority measures for the Congress to pass. One of which is the Anti-Dynasty Bill amid the Philippine government having several government officials who are actually family members — including the Marcoses.

Here are the priority measures that Marcos Jr. wants the Congress to pass:
- Anti-Dynasty bill
- Independent People’s Commission Act bill
- Party-list System Reform Act bill
- Citizens Access and Disclosure of Expenditures for National Accountability or CADENA Act bill
Previously, some government officials were asked about their view of a measure that would bar the family members of sitting public officials to run for another position in the government based on a certain degree. Senator Erwin Tulfo vowed to support the Anti-Political Dynasty bill and even claimed that he will resign if it will be passed into law.

Currently, there are two (2) Tulfos in the Senate — with Sen. Raffy Tulfo, the brother of Sen. Erwin Tulfo, being the other one. The sister of Pres. Bongbong Marcos, Sen. Imee Marcos, and his son, Ilocos Norte Cong. Sandro Marcos, also hold positions in the government. The vice governor of Ilocos Norte, Matthew Manotoc, is also a Marcos, the son of Senator Imee.

Recently, based on a post of News5 on social media, Ilocos Norte Cong. Sandro Marcos and House Speaker Bojie Dy filed the measure that aims to end political dynasty in the Philippine politics. The lawmakers filed the House Bill No. 6771 which does not allow the wife, sibling, and other family members of a government official up to the fourth degree to run for public office.
Not only Cong. Sandro Marcos came from a political family but as well as House Speaker Bojie Dy. His son, Faustino “Inno” Dy V, is currently the mayor of Echague and Inno’s wife, Alyssa Sheena Tan-Dy, is the mayor of Santiago City. His other son, Francis Faustino “Kiko” Dy, has also served as vice governor of Isabela.
Dy became the House Speaker after presidential cousin and Leyte Cong. Martin Romualdez resigned from being the House speaker. His resignation came amid the accusations of alleged flood control corruption hurled against him.
Recently, Davao Congressman Paolo Duterte reacted to Marcos Jr.’s push for the Anti-Political Dynasty bill.
