Pokwang Speaks Out After Brother’s Viral Assault Incident
POKWANG – The actress-television host confirmed that her brother was the driver caught on video assaulting a man and his young daughter on December 14 in Antipolo City. She apologized to the victims but stressed that she does not condone her brother’s actions and reminded the public, including politicians who shared family photos online, that cyberlibel and cyberbullying laws exist.
The viral video showed a white Toyota Hilux driver verbally abusing and striking a father who was pushing a cart with his minor child. The child fell and cried in fear as the driver hit the father. Witnesses said the incident began when the cart accidentally brushed against the truck. Upon noticing someone recording, the driver immediately drove away, leaving the family distressed.
In response, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) swiftly suspended the driver’s license for 90 days and issued a Show Cause Order. Both the driver and the registered vehicle owner were required to submit notarized explanations. The preventive suspension allows the LTO’s Intelligence and Investigation Division to review the case, and failure to attend the hearing may result in permanent revocation of the license.

LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Markus Lacanilao emphasized that the action was due to the driver’s potential classification as an improper person to operate a vehicle, not merely because of the incident itself. The agency condemned the violent act and assured the public that anyone who commits similar road aggression will be held accountable. LTO’s priority is to ensure the safety of road users and enforce strict consequences for such behavior.

The case remains under investigation, and the LTO confirmed that justice will be pursued for the father and child involved. Meanwhile, Pokwang’s statement clarified her family’s stance and sought to distance herself from her brother’s actions, reminding everyone to be responsible when sharing personal or family content online.
