The conflict between the two brothers escalated after Ben criticized Mon for allegedly interfering in a controversy involving their brother, Senator Raffy Tulfo, and an actress. Ben accused Mon of being attention-seeking and irresponsible in his public comments, and he openly rebuked him with harsh words, even suggesting that Mon should retire from public life and live quietly.
A day after Ben made these remarks, Mon issued a much stronger response through a lengthy post on his social media page on December 12, 2025. In his statements, Mon made serious personal accusations against Ben, questioning his mental stability and behavior. These comments led some netizens to compare Mon’s actions to past instances in which public figures openly accused family members of serious personal issues, which had also sparked public backlash.
Mon also addressed Ben’s failed senatorial bid in the May 2025 elections. He admitted that he had prayed for Ben not to win, explaining that he did not want another family member in the Senate. According to Mon, their family is against the idea of a political dynasty, despite several relatives already holding or having run for public office. He added that if an anti-dynasty law were passed, family members currently in government would support it.
Mon went further by claiming that Ben’s behavior had long been a problem, even during their younger years. He asserted that, as the eldest sibling who helped support and educate his brothers, he knew Ben’s personality well. Mon alleged that Ben often acted aggressively only because he was surrounded by security personnel and suggested that this toughness was not genuine.
Mon also drew controversial comparisons between Ben and other political figures, continuing his personal attacks and questioning Ben’s capacity to hold public office. These statements intensified the public feud and divided public opinion, with many expressing concern over the deeply personal nature of the conflict being aired publicly.
