Marcoleta Faces a Perjury Complaint

Perjury Complaint Filed Against Marcoleta

RODANTE MARCOLETA – A perjury complaint has been filed with the Office of the Ombudsman against the senator after he allegedly admitted in a television interview that he accepted campaign donations, despite declaring zero contributions in his 2025 campaign finance report.

The election watchdog group Kontra Daya submitted the complaint on Friday, December 5, referring to Marcoleta’s interview on November 7. According to the group, his statement may be considered perjury under Article 183 of the Revised Penal Code, which penalizes false statements made under oath.

Kontra Daya claimed that his admission suggests a deliberate decision to report zero donations to avoid revealing the names of his donors, even though the law requires full disclosure. The group stressed that honest and transparent reporting is essential to ensuring accountability in the electoral process and maintaining public trust in government officials and democratic institutions.

Perjury is the act of lying or giving false information while under oath, such as in court or in an official legal document.
