ICC To Not Allow Duterte Family To Visit Dad Rodrigo on New Year’s Day

Kitty Duterte Speaks on ICC Visit to Former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte on Holidays

ICC – The International Criminal Court may not allow the Duterte family to do a regular visit on former President Rodrigo Duterte on New Year’s Day.

In October, the International Criminal Court rejected the interim release plea of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte. His camp filed for an appeal and a hearing was held last November 28 over the said appeal. The foreign court once again junked the interim release plea of Duterte.

Duterte waived his right to personally appear at the said ICC hearing over his interim release appeal. He was represented by his lawyer, Nicholas Kaufman, at the hearing. Countless supporters of the 80-year-old former President were saddened by the decision of the foreign court.

The Duterte family said they accept the ICC ruling on their father’s interim release plea “with open hearts”. They assured that they will continue to support the former President through constant communication. The lawyer of the former President, Nicholas Kaufman, previously said they might seek for his interim release again after the medical reports will be released.

The British-Israeli Lawyer stressed that they did his best for the former President’s interim release. He also previously claimed that they will appeal to the foreign court over the holiday visits for his client but he admitted that the rules may prevent his family to visit him on Christmas and New Year’s Day.

Kitty Duterte, the youngest daughter of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte, confirmed that she already informed her father that their family won’t be allowed by the ICC to visit him on Christmas and New Year’s Day. Her statement came after the lawyer of the former President claimed that the elder Duterte wishes to spend Christmas with his family.

According to Kitty Duterte, her father was not in his best emotional state when she visited him last December 24 but he remained strong and composed. The youngest daughter of the former President further shared that the said visit ended with a prayer.

Based on a report on PhilStar, the ICC is on judicial recess from December 12 to January 5. Previously, Nicholas Kaufman confirmed that they already received the medical report on former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte but claimed that it was “confidential” then.

However, recently, a source unveiled that the ICC medical report allegedly stated that former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte is fit to stand trial. The foreign court requested the former President to undergo a health checkup after his lawyer claimed that he is allegedly not fit to stand trial.
