Female Netizen Warns Public About “One Ring Phone Scam” and Online Lending Harassment
A female netizen warned the public about the “One Ring Phone Scam,” which aims to victimize people through online lending apps.
Recently, Maria Angela, a Facebook user, shared her experience after she was allegedly harassed by scammers demanding payment for money she never borrowed. The post quickly went viral and elicited reactions online.
Maria Angela shared how she suddenly started receiving calls, text messages, and chats from unknown numbers claiming to be from different online lending apps. The callers demanded payment for loans she said she never applied for.

When she asked them to meet in person or appear at the police station or barangay, they refused. She also asked for permits and official documents, but none were provided.
The female netizen later realized she was a victim of identity theft. According to her, the scammers used different phone numbers, email addresses, and accounts, making it hard to trace them.
The situation became more alarming when her personal contacts were also affected. She explained that even without applying for a loan, scammers can create one under someone’s name and then pressure the victim by contacting friends and family.

Maria Angela also warned about the ‘One Ring Phone Scam’. This happens when a missed call from an unknown number rings once and then drops. When a person answers or returns the call, it may allow scammers to access personal information or contacts.
The woman said she personally experienced this and urged everyone to be extra careful. Because of the repeated messages and calls, she shared that the harassment took a toll on her mental health.

Still, she chose to speak up to protect others. She reminded the public not to answer calls from unknown numbers, avoid clicking links related to loans, and immediately block and report suspicious messages.
