Young Lineman Lost His Life After Being Electrocuted While Repairing Cebu Power Lines

A young lineman tragically lost his life after being electrocuted while repairing damaged power lines in Barangay Bojo, Aloguinsan, Cebu. 

On Thursday afternoon (November 6, 2025), a 25-year-old lineman from CEBECO III dies while repairing damaged power lines. 

The victim was identified as Junric Niñal Heraldez, a junior lineman and resident of Toledo City. He was part of a repair crew working tirelessly to restore electricity in areas hit by Typhoon Tino.

According to local authorities, the team was fixing lines connected to a transformer when the accident occurred. Heraldez reportedly made contact with a live wire while attempting to restore power. 

His co-worker had advised him to wait as they were still checking nearby connections, but the incident happened too quickly. 

Fellow workers and residents rushed to help and brought him to the Aloguinsan Rural Health Center, but doctors declared him dead on arrival. Police confirmed that Heraldez suffered a severe electric shock that caused his immediate collapse.

Investigators found no sign of foul play, describing the event as a work-related accident that took place during post-typhoon restoration efforts. The area had multiple damaged lines due to strong winds and debris brought by Typhoon Tino, making the task even more dangerous. 

The incident quickly spread online and earned sympathy and gratitude from netizens who expressed deep respect for linemen risking their lives to bring power back to communities. 

Many internet users shared how workers like Heraldez continue to serve despite exhaustion and danger, especially in times of disaster. 

Local authorities and CEBECO III are conducting a full investigation into the incident and are expected to release an official statement to the victim’s family.
