Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Issues Statement amid Massive Corruption Issue in PH
SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President broke her silence after Zaldy Co tagged Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and former Speaker Martin Romualdez in the corruption issue in the Philippines.
Zaldy Co accused Marcos Jr. and Romualdez of alleged involvement in the corruption issues in the country over the supposed budget insertions and kickbacks. According to the former House member, Marcos Jr. and Romualdez allegedly ordered the insertion of P100 billion in the 2025 budget.

Co has yet to return to the country amid the massive allegations of flood control corruption. According to him, he is worried over his safety and he was allegedly warned by former House Speaker Martin Romualdez.

According to Zaldy Co, he was allegedly warned by former Speaker Martin Romualdez that he will shoot him if he will talk. He also claimed that the former Speaker allegedly threatened him over the phone not to return to the Philippines or he might get killed.
Co claimed that he was allegedly promised to be taken cared of. According to him, he did not expect to be the “poster boy” for the government’s fight against corruption. Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte broke her silence on the corruption issue in the country following the claims of Zaldy Co.

Through a statement posted on her official social media page, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte claimed that she understands and dismay of the Filipino people. According to her, before the flood control issue crossed the surface, she has already talked to many Filipinos overseas about transparency, peace, accountability, and unity.
“Nauunawaan ko ang galit ng taong bayan dahil nasaksihan ko mismo kung paano minanipula ng House of Representatives ang budget ng Department of Education. Sa halip na sundin ang listahan ng DepEd upang matugunan ang malalang kakulangan sa classrooms, mistulang ginawang pork barrel ang pondong nakalaan para sa kabataang Pilipino at pinaghati-hatian ng mga kongresistang malapit sa mga makapangyarihan,” the Vice President stated.
According to Vice Pres. Sara Duterte, she allegedly chose not to be part of the supposed fooling of the Filipino people. she stressed that she endured the attacks against her after she resigned from being the secretary of the Department of Education (DepEd).
Vice Pres. Duterte called for an explanation from Pres. Marcos on how things happened under his watch. Based on the post, the Vice President also expressed being one of those who are disappointed about the government now.
“Kaisa ako ng milyong-milyong Pilipinong nadismaya at nandidiri sa pamahalaang lulong sa insekuridad at walang kabusugang kasakiman. Ang karapatan nating magsalita at magpahayag ang sandigan ng demokrasya. Dapat itong pakinggan ng pamahalaan. Hindi para isantabi at balewalain lamang. We Filipinos deserve better,” she said.

Previously, Malacañang spoke on the series of accusations of Zaldy Co against Marcos Jr. The President has yet to personally speak on the allegations against him.
