Magalong Supports Ramon Ang if Asked to Lead Temporarily
BENJAMIN MAGALONG – The Baguio City mayor expressed strong confidence in San Miguel Corporation President Ramon S. Ang after reports suggested that some business leaders are considering him as a temporary “caretaker” to help restore political stability in the Philippines.
In an interview with TV5, Magalong described Ang as a highly successful and respected figure in business. He said he would support Ang if he were ever asked to lead temporarily, noting that many people trust him because of his experience and contributions to the country.
“Si Mr. Ramon Ang is a well-established, well accomplished individual in the business sector. Hindi po ako mag-aalangan kung sakali mang may mangyari at siya ang ilagay to head the caretaker government, puwede po. Malaki po ang kumpiyansa ng tao sa kanya considering his background at nagawa na po sa ating bansa,” Magalong said.

Magalong clarified that the reports are only rumors and that there is no sign of any real plan to destabilize the government at this time. When asked why some business leaders are looking for a caretaker, he explained that it stems from frustration and declining trust in the government, especially after serious accusations linking President Bongbong Marcos and some family members to illegal drugs. He said these allegations are serious and need to be addressed immediately. Slow investigations and perceived corruption have lowered confidence in the government, prompting some business leaders to consider alternative options.

According to sources cited by Politiko, some top business leaders feel the political situation has become too chaotic and see Ang as someone who could bring back confidence and stability to the country. They believe his leadership could reassure both local and foreign investors.
Despite the talks, Ramon Ang has clearly stated that he does not plan to enter politics. He believes he can make a bigger difference for the country by focusing on his business work. While rumors continue, Ang’s priority remains running his companies rather than taking a government role.
