Larry Gadon Defends President Marcos Against Imee’s Allegations
LARRY GADON – The Presidential Adviser on Poverty Alleviation strongly criticized Senator Imee Marcos for publicly claiming that her brother, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., is using illegal drugs.
Gadon, a well-known ally of the President, responded sharply, saying that Senator Imee’s statements were reckless, harmful, and only created unnecessary trouble within their family. He emphasized that most people continue to support the President, unlike those calling for him to step down.
Gadon also pointed out that Senator Imee’s claims not only damage the President but also affect the entire Marcos family. According to him, her public accusation brought embarrassment and division to their clan, especially since it was made in front of a large crowd at the Iglesia Ni Cristo rally. He added that her remarks appeared politically motivated and could benefit the Duterte family, who are seen as political rivals of the Marcoses.

He further suggested that Senator Imee’s actions might be linked to her reported plan to run for vice president in 2028 if Vice President Sara Duterte decides to run for president. For Gadon, the senator’s statements seemed to be part of a larger political strategy rather than a genuine concern.

The controversy escalated when Senator Imee spoke at the Quirino Grandstand during the Iglesia Ni Cristo rally. She claimed that the First Family, including Sandro Marcos, was involved in illegal drug use. She said that she and other family members allegedly discovered this and considered it a serious issue. Her remarks shocked many and created significant tension within the Marcos family.
Malacañang also responded to the situation. Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Claire Castro called Senator Imee’s statements a desperate move. Castro emphasized that the peace rally was meant to focus on issues related to alleged corruption, not on personal attacks against the President. She questioned why Senator Imee chose to target her own brother during an event that had nothing to do with family matters.
