Jake Ejercito Honors Enrile’s Legacy
JAKE EJERCITO – The actor paid tribute to the late politician Juan Ponce Enrile, who passed away at the age of 101. In a heartfelt Facebook post, Jake remembered a moment he shared with Enrile back in 2011, when the former senator was 90 years old.
He recalled that he was sitting close to Enrile while reading his younger brother’s grade school history book. Enrile noticed what he was reading and asked to see the page, which happened to be about the Japanese invasion. After reading a few lines, Enrile pointed out that the date written in the book was wrong. Jake said he was confused at first about how someone could question a history textbook, but Enrile handed the book back and explained that he knew the correct date because he lived through that time.
Jake said that many things have been said about Enrile and more will surely be discussed in the future. But he believes one thing is certain: Enrile has earned a place in the country’s history books, and future generations will continue to look into his life and actions. He ended his message by bidding the former Senate President a respectful goodbye.

Enrile, known as the oldest active public official in the Philippines, will have a public viewing according to his daughter Katrina. It will be held at their home in Makati City from November 16 to 18 and from November 20 to 21.

Born on February 14, 1924, Enrile served in government for many decades under different administrations. He passed away on November 13 at his home, surrounded by his family.
Jake’s brother, Senator JV Ejercito, also expressed his condolences. JV once worked with Enrile in the Senate and considered him a mentor and a respected figure in Philippine politics. He honored his former colleague’s family and recognized Enrile’s long service as a lawyer and public servant.
