Manager of Enrique Gil Denies That the Actor Posted About Juan Ponce Enrile’s Death
ENRIQUE GIL — The manager of the Kapamilya actor clarified the circulating Instagram Story that recently went viral. The story, which appeared to have been posted from Gil’s account, contained a message about former Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile.
However, it was quickly deleted. Ranvel Rufino, Gil’s manager, firmly denied that the actor had uploaded the story. He appealed to the public to stop spreading fake posts, emphasizing that Enrique had nothing to do with the content. Despite the manager’s clear explanation, the issue continued to spark discussion and speculation across social media platforms.
Before the clarification, online users reacted strongly to the supposed post from Enrique Gil. The deleted story featured a photo of Enrile with a caption that read, “Rest in peace, sen [white dove emoji] Let’s not stress ourselves. Mananagot din ang mga taong nagdiriwang sa pagkawala mo [praying hands emoji].” Many netizens criticized the message, calling it inappropriate and insensitive. Some noted that the post was even more questionable because Gil had once portrayed Enrile in an episode of Maalaala Mo Kaya.

The controversy emerged shortly after the confirmed passing of Juan Ponce Enrile. The former senator and Chief Presidential Legal Counsel died on November 13 at the age of 101 after being confined in the intensive care unit due to pneumonia. His daughter, Katrina Ponce Enrile, announced his death and expressed her family’s gratitude to everyone who offered prayers and support.

Enrile had struggled with various health conditions for many years, including hypertension, diabetes, heart issues, macular degeneration, and several infections. He had been hospitalized multiple times and had also tested positive for COVID-19 in 2022. According to reports, he preferred not to spend his final moments in a hospital, and he passed away at home surrounded by his family.
