71-Year-Old Grandma Donates Her Savings to Typhoon Tino Victims in Bacolod City

A 71-year-old grandmother from Barangay 35, Bacolod City, donated her savings to help the Negrenses affected by Typhoon Tino.

Recently, the Facebook page RMN DYHB Bacolod 747 shared photos of the money donated by the senior citizen for the typhoon victims. The post quickly went viral and received numerous reactions online.

The elderly woman touched the hearts of many after donating the contents of her piggy bank to help those affected by Typhoon Tino.

71-Year-Old Grandma

According to the radio station, the elderly woman, known as Nanay Noemi, had been saving twenty-peso coins for several months. She said she started collecting the coins in case she ever ran out of money or needed extra funds for emergencies.

However, upon hearing the station’s call for donations under their Oplan Tabang Donation Drive, she decided to give everything she had saved to help the victims in Central Negros who were severely affected by flooding.

Nanay Noemi’s total savings amounted to P500, a small amount by most standards, but to her, it represented months of patience and effort.

The grandma said that while the amount may not be much, she hoped it could bring even a bit of comfort and hope to those who lost their homes and belongings during the storm.

Her act of kindness inspired thousands online, with many praising her generosity and compassion despite her own modest means. People admired how she chose to give instead of keep, proving that true charity does not depend on how much one has but, on the willingness, to share.

Nanay Noemi’s donation may be small in value, but it shows that even the simplest acts of kindness can bring warmth and hope to others in times of hardship.
